Symplectic instanton homology groups have been defined by \textit{C. Manolescu} and \textit{C. Woodward} [Prog. Math. 296, 283--329 (2012; Zbl 1260.57050)]. These homology groups are defined for every closed oriented \(3\)-manifold. Their isomorphism types are topological invariants. In the paper under review, the author defines a twisted version of symplectic instanton homology. He shows that the twisted version of symplectic instanton homology fits well in the framework of the so-called Floer field theory (defined by Wehrheim and Woodward). In addition, the author investigates the effect of connected sum and Dehn surgery on symplectic instanton homology. More precisely, the author proves the Kunneth-type formula for connected sums (Theorem 1.1) and surgery exact sequence for surgeries (Theorem 1.3). Finally, using the surgery exact sequence, the author computes symplectic instanton homology groups for some manifolds.
