The paper is dedicated to providing a model-categorical description of the homotopy theory of differential graded Lie algebroids over a commutative dg-algebra of characteristic zero \(A\), with the main objective of analyzing the interplay between dg-Lie algebroids and deformation theory. The first main result in the paper establishes that the category of dg-Lie algebroids over \(A\) and the category of \(L_{\infty}\)-algebroids over \(A\) both admit a right, proper, tractable semi-model structure, such that a map is a weak equivalence (respectively, a fibration) if and only if it is a quasi-isomorphism (respectively, a degrewise surjection). The second one claims that the forgetful functors \(U : \mathrm{LieAlg}_A^{dg} \to \mathrm{Mod}_A^{dg}/T_A\) and \(U : \mathrm{L}_{\infty}\mathrm{Alg}_A^{dg} \to \mathrm{Mod}_A^{dg}/T_A\) are right Quillen functors such that they preserve cofibrant objects and they preserve sifted homotopy colimits. The paper is organized as follows: after the introduction, some notions and results concerning dg-Lie algebroids over a commutative dg-algebra and semi-model categories are recalled. In section 3 the two main results mentioned above are stated and some consequences are obtained. Demonstrations of these two main results are addressed in the next section. In section 5 a concrete cofibrant replacement for dg-Lie algebroids and \(L_{\infty}\)-algebroids is provided. The approach presented is analogous to the cobar resolution for algebras over reduced operads. The paper concludes with two applications: firstly, the illustration how classical Lie algebroid cohomology can be understood model-categorically in terms of mapping spaces; secondly, the description of the loop space of dg-Lie algebroids.
