The authors consider a generalization of a two-ion electro-diffusion model, which is the boundary value problem: \[\begin{cases} u'' = g(x,u) + p(x),\\ u'(0) = a_0 u(0), \quad u'(1) = a_1 u(1), \end{cases} \] where \(g : [0,1] \times {\mathbb R} \to {\mathbb R}\) is continuous, continuously differentiable, strictly increasing and superlinear in the second variable, \(p\) is continuous and positive, \(a_0,a_1 \in {\mathbb R}\) are positive. They obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of at least three solutions -- one positive, one negative and one sign-changing. For special cases they proved, that no other solutions exist. To obtain these result, the shooting method is used.
