The paper presents a number of proofs of some results announced by the author in January 2019 at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore (Maryland, USA) related to the properties of normal families of functions in the unit disk. For example, let \(G\) be an open set in \(\mathbb{C}\) and \(H(G)\) be the set of analytic functions on \(G\). The author proves the following \(\mathbf{Theorem}.\) Let \(k\geq 1\) be an integer, and let \(\mathfrak{F}\subset H(D)\) be a family of functions. (i) If the family \(\mathfrak{F}\) is normal, then the family \[ \mathfrak{F}^{k}=\{f^{(k)}:\: f\in\mathfrak{F}\subset H(D)\}\] is also normal. (ii) If the family \[ \mathfrak{F}^{k}=\{f^{(k)}:\: f\in\mathfrak{F}\subset H(D)\}\] is normal, then the family \(\mathfrak{F}\) is also normal.
