On the homogenization of means (Q2338583)

The authors investigate several notions of homogenization. Namely, they introduce two constructions for the homogenization of weighted means (homogeneous envelopes and local homogenizations), they also deal with the homogenizations related to quasiarithmetic means and to semideviation means. Their class of semideviation means based on semideviation, \textit{Z. Páles} [Aequationes Math. 37, No. 2--3, 141--161 (1989; Zbl 0691.46002)] extends the classes of deviation and quasideviation means introduced by \textit{Z. Daroczy} [Aequationes Math. 7, 16--21 (1971; Zbl 0242.26015)] and by \textit{Z. Páles} [Publ. Math. 30, 75--88 (1983; Zbl 0544.26009)], respectively.\par The authors also characterize the comparison inequality, the Jensen concavity and inequalities of Minkowski or Hölder type related to semideviation means.
