Symmetry and transformation properties of iterative ordinary differential equation (Q2338851)

A linear differential equation of a general order \(n\) is considered in its iterative form. The authors review the work by \textit{J. Krause} and \textit{L. Michel} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 307, No. 18, 905--910 (1988; Zbl 0662.34010)]. This pertains to the expression of the symmetry generator of the linear iterative equation in terms of the solutions of the second-order source equation. The results in [loc cit.] are validated via a different approach which consists of substituting the solutions of the condition required for a certain infinitesimal \(\xi = f(x)\) into the most general form of the symmetry generator. It is shown that the condition on the infinitesimal function does not depend on the order of the linear iterative equation. Results regarding the parameters of the transformed equation under equivalence transformation are presented for the linear iterative equation of order \(n\).
