Whenever we have extensions \(Y\) and \(Y'\) of a topological space \(X\), i.e. \(X\) is a dense subspace of both \(Y\) and \(Y'\), then we denote \(Y\leq Y'\) whenever there is a continuous map from \(Y'\) to \(Y\) which fixes \(X\) pointwise. In this paper the author describes the partially ordered set of all extensions of \(X\) with compact remainder that satisfy a certain property \(P\). In particular the properties \textit{pseudocompactness} and \textit{realcompactness} are studied. Let \(\mathcal{U}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{U}(Y)\) be the partially ordered sets of pseudocompact extensions with compact remainder of respectively \(X\) and \(Y\). For locally pseudocompact spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) the author proves that \(\text{cl}_{\beta X}(\beta X\setminus \upsilon X)\) and \(\text{cl}_{\beta Y}(\beta Y\setminus \upsilon Y)\) are homeomorphic if \(\mathcal{U}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{U}(Y)\) are order-isomorphic. If in addition \(X\) and \(Y\) are locally compact, then the spaces \((\beta X\setminus X) \setminus \text{cl}_{\beta X}(\beta X\setminus \upsilon X)\) and \((\beta Y\setminus Y) \setminus \text{cl}_{\beta Y}(\beta Y\setminus \upsilon Y)\) are also homeomorphic. Moreover, this paper contains similar results for the partially ordered sets \(\mathcal{R}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{R}(Y)\), where \(\mathcal{R}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{R}(Y)\) are the sets of realcompact extensions with compact remainder of respectively \(X\) and \(Y\). In a partially ordered set with maximal element \(u\) an element \(x\) is a co-atom iff there is no \(y\) such that \(x<y<u\). An element \(x\) is a co-atom cover iff there exists exactly one \(x'\) such that \(x<x'<u\). In the second section of this paper the author gives a detailed description of the co-atoms and co-atom covers in \(\mathcal{U}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{R}(X)\). The final section contains a more general description of the partially ordered set of all extensions of a space \(X\) with compact remainder and condition \(P\), where \(P\) is a compactness-like property. Several results earlier in the article about pseudocompact and realcompact extensions can be generalised (although pseudocompactness and realcompactness are themselves not compactness-like properties).
