On products of generalized geometries (Q2339890)

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate when a product of manifolds admitting generalized geometric structures admits a generalized geometric structure too. The first result states that the product of odd-dimensional smooth manifolds with almost contact structures admits a generalized almost complex structure \(J\) and gives conditions under which \(J\) is generalized complex. We remark that in 1963, \textit{A. Morimoto} [J. Math. Soc. Japan 15, 420--436 (1963; Zbl 0135.22102)] solved the analogous problem in the classical case. The second result states that the product of an odd-dimensional smooth manifold with a generalized almost contact structure and an even-dimensional smooth manifold with a generalized almost complex structure admits a generalized almost contact structure and gives conditions under which this structure is a stronger generalized contact structure.
