The classification of complex projective polarized manifolds \((X',L')\) (\(L'\) very ample) of low degree is a classical subject where different goals have been accomplished (see the paper under review and references therein): complete classification up to degree eight; of degree nine, ten and eleven when the dimension of \(X'\) is greater than or equal to three; and of degree twelve when the dimension is three and the codimension is two. As a natural continuation of this program, this paper deals with the classification of (linearly normal) threefolds of degree twelve and codimension three. The classification is presented in Table 7 where the different possibilities for the sectional genus; for \((X',L')\) or its reduction \((X,L)\) (\(X\) smooth, \(L\) ample and there exists a blow up \(\pi:X' \to X\) along a finite set \(F\) such that \(L'=\pi^*L-\pi^{-1}(F)\)) are shown. It is remarkable the presence of \textit{log-general type} cases, which are those whose reduction has the property that the adjoint bundle \(K_X+(n-2)L\) is nef and big. The proof is a study of the different constraints for the numerical invariants of these varieties and a systematic study of the different possiblities, mainly with the help of the results of adjunction theory. Explicit constructions of examples are also provided.
