The functional equation \[ F(xy)=G(x)H(y)+K(y)\tag{1} \] is a common generalization of Pexider additive and multiplicative equations (hence also respective Cauchy functional equations) and a particular case of the Levi-Civita equation. It was investigated already in books of \textit{J. Aczél} [Lectures on functional equations and their applications. New York and London: Academic Press (1966; Zbl 0139.09301)] and \textit{J. Aczél} and \textit{J. Dhombres} [Functional equations in several variables with applications to mathematics, information theory and to the natural and social sciences. Encyclopaedia of Mathematics and Its Applications, 31. Cambridge etc.: Cambridge University Press (1989; Zbl 0685.39006)]. The reviewed paper deals with stability of equation (1). Let \(S\) be an amenable semigroup with a neutral element and suppose that \(f,g,h,k: S\to \mathbb{C}\) satisfy \[ |f(xy)-g(x)h(y)-k(y)|\leq\varepsilon,\qquad x,y\in S, \] with \(\varepsilon\geq 0\). Then there exist \(F,G,H,K: S\to \mathbb{C}\) such that (1) holds true for all \(x,y\in S\) and such that the differences \(f-F\), \(g-G\), \(h-H\) and \(k-K\) are bounded.
