The author extends a result of \textit{D. Coman} et al. [J. Reine Angew. Math. 676, 33--49 (2013; Zbl 1269.32018)], which says that, if \(M\) is a Stein manifold and \(X\) is an analytic subvariety of \(M\) (but otherwise unconstrained), then for every plurisubharmonic \(\varphi\) on \(X\) one can find a plurisubharmonic \(\psi\) on \(M\) such that \(\psi|_X=\varphi\). If moreover there is a continuous exhaustion function \(u\) of \(M\) such that \(\varphi(z)<u(z)\) on \(X\), then \(\psi\) can be chosen so that \(\psi(z)<c\max\{u(z),0\}\) on \(M\) for arbitrary \(c>1\). When \(X\) is an algebraic subvariety of \(\mathbb C^{n}\) and \(\overline{X}\) is it's closure in \(\mathbb P^{n}\), Coman et al. [loc.cit.] required that the germs of \((\overline{X},a)\) in \(\mathbb P^{n}\) are irreducible for all \(a\in\overline{X}\setminus X\). Here it is shown that, when for some \(a\in \overline{X}\setminus X\) the germ \((\overline{X},a)\) is reducible, one still can extend any plurisubharmonic function on \(X\) with logarithmic growth to a plurisubharmonic function on \(\mathbb C^{n}\) with logarithmic growth, provided that some (necessary and sufficient) conditions are satisfied.
