Filling a hole in the literature, the authors establish necessary and sufficient conditions for continuous embeddings of both nonhomogeneous Sobolev spaces \(W^k\,X(\mathbb{R}^n)\) and homogeneous Sobolev space \(W^k\,X(\mathbb{R}^n)\), modelled upon rearrangement-invariant Banach function space \(X(\mathbb{R}^n)\), into generalized Hölder spaces defined by means of \(k\)-modulus of smoothness \((k\in\mathbb{N})\). The general results (which are too complicated to be stated here) are illustrated by examples.
