In this article, the author discusses Kadison's carpenter's theorems in the corresponding context of infinite-dimensional majorisation, and a new proof of Kadison's characterisation of the set of diagonals of orthogonal projections on Hilbert space [\textit{R. V. Kadison}, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 99, No. 8, 5217--5222 (2002; Zbl 1013.46050)] is given.
