A normal Kähler variety is a symplectic variety if its smooth locus admits a non-degenerate holomorphic 2-form \(\omega\) whose pull back to any resolution \(\nu:Y\to X\) of \(X\) can be extended to a holomorphic \(2\)-form on \(Y\). If moreover \(X\) has only \(\mathbb Q\)-Gorenstein terminal singularities, \(h^{2i}(\mathcal O _X)=1 \) and \(h^{2i-1}(\mathcal O _X)=0\) for \(1\leq i \leq \dim X/2\) then we say that \(X\) is cohomologically irreducible symplectic. In this paper it is shown that if \(X\) is cohomologically irreducible symplectic and there is a surjective morphism \(f:X\to S\) with connected fibers such that \(0<\dim S < \dim X\) and \(S\) is smooth, then \(S\cong \mathbb P ^{\dim X/2}\). The author also constructs an example of a Lagrangian fibration \(f:X\to S\) where \(S\) is singular.
