It is a central problem to understand the singularities of minimal log canonical centers in the study of Fujita's base point freeness conjecture and many other subjects of birational geometry. In the present article, the author give a sufficient condition to control the singularities of minimal log canonical centers. The main statements states as following: Let \(X\) be a smooth variety and let \(\mathcal{I}\) be a \(\mathbb{Q}\)-ideal, assume that \((X, \mathcal{I})\) is log canonical and critical at a closed point \(x\) with the minimal log canonical center \(Z\) of dimension \(2\leq d\leq n-1\). Let \(\mu: Y\rightarrow X\) be a log resolution and assume that \(\mathcal{I}\cdot \mathcal{O}_Y=\mathcal{O}_Y(-D)\) and \(m_x\cdot\mathcal{O}_Y=\mathcal{O}_Y(-E)\). Then, if there exists an integer \(k\) with \(1\leq k_0\leq d-1\) such that \(R^d\mu_*(K_{Y/X}-\lfloor D\rfloor+kE)=0\) for all \(1\leq k\leq k_0\), we have \(\mathrm{mult}_xZ\leq \binom{n-1-k_0}{d-1-k_0}\). Under this assumption of vanishing of certain higher direct images, this bound improves an earlier bound of \textit{S. Helmke} [Duke Math. J. 88, No. 2, 201--216 (1997; Zbl 0876.14004)].
