    This article is concerned with a boundary value problem for a differential equation with the point of singularity of the form \[ \frac{d^{2}y}{dx^{2}}+ \frac{b}{x} \frac{dy}{dx}= f(x,y),\quad x\in (0,1], \] with the boundary conditions \[ y(0)=a\, (\text{or } y'(0)= 0 )\quad \text{and} \quad A y(1) + B y'(1)= C. \] The numerical solution of this problem is obtained using the Galerkin method constructed by a system of, so-called sinc functions \[ S (k,h) (z)= \mathrm{sinc} (\frac{z-kh}{h}) \] with the evenly spaced nodes \( k h ,\) where \[ \mathrm{sinc} (z) = \frac{\mathrm{sinc}(\pi z)}{\pi z} \text{ if} \quad z\neq 0\quad \text{and} \quad \mathrm{sinc}(z)=1\text{ if} \quad z=0. \] The approximate scheme for the initial problem presents a system of nonlinear algebraic equations of special form that is solved applying an iterative method. Some examples of the initial equation for different functions \( f(x,y)\) are treated to illustrate the error of the method.
