The authors obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions of the initial value problem of ordinary differential equations of the form \[ x'= f(t,x)+g(t,x),x(t_{0})=x_{0}, \] \( t_{0}\leq t\leq t_{0}+a \), \( t_{0}\geq 0 \), \( a>0 \), \( x_{0}\in \mathbb R \) and the functions \( f,g: [t_{0}, t_{0}+a]\times \mathbb R\rightarrow \mathbb R \) are continuous. They have obtained a sequence of functions which approximate this solution. Basically, this work is a modification and extension of the work of \textit{B. C. Dhage} et al. [Appl. Math. Lett. 34, 76--80 (2014; Zbl 1314.34036)]. An example is given to illustrate the results obtained.
