The authors consider an hybrid PDE-ODE model of plaque growth in arteries. The artery is assumed to be a circular cylinder with radius \(1\) and the plaque is modeled as the ring \(R(t)<r<1\), where \(R(t)\) is a free boundary that models the interface between the plaque and the blood flow. For this model, the authors study the existence and stability of small steady plaques (\(R(t)\approx 1- \epsilon\)).
