Let \(X\) be a Tychonoff space and \(C(X)\) be the set of all continuous real-valued functions on \(X\). In the paper under review, the authors define two new topologies on \(C(X)\): (1) The open-point topology which has as subbase all sets of the form \([U,r]^{-}=\{f\in C(X):f^{-1}(r)\cap U\neq \emptyset \}\), where \(U\) is an open subset of \(X\) and \(r\in \mathbb{R}\); \(C(X)\) with this topology is denoted by \(C_{h}(X)\). (2) The bi-point-open topology on \(C(X)\) which is the join of the topology of pointwise convergence and the open-point topology; the corresponding space is denoted by \(C_{ph}(X)\). In Section 3, the authors study the separation properties of the spaces \(C_{h}(X)\) and \(C_{ph}(X)\). In Section 4, they examine the metrizability and first countability of the spaces \(C_{h}(X)\) and \(C_{ph}(X)\). They also study, in the last section, properties such as separability, Lindelöf property and second countability of the spaces \(C_{h}(X)\) and \(C_{ph}(X)\).
