    The authors study the asymptotic behavior of the classical solutions \(u\in C^{1,2}(\mathbb R^{n+1}_+)\) \((n\geq 4)\) to the parabolic Monge-Ampère equation \[ D_tu-\log[\det(D^2_xu)]=f, \] which satisfy the condition \(c_0\leq D_tu\leq C_0\) for some constants \(c_0\) and \(C_0\). Here, \(f\) belongs to \(C(\mathbb R^{n+1}_-)\) and is constant outside a compact set. The main result of the paper shows that, if \(u\) is convex in \(x\), then there exist a symmetric and positive definite matrix \(A\), \(b\in\mathbb R^n\) and \(c\in\mathbb R\) such that \[ \begin{aligned} & u(t,x)=(\log(\det A)+a)t+\frac{1}{2}\langle Ax,x\rangle+\langle b,x\rangle+c, \quad\;t\leq t^*,\quad x\in\mathbb R^n,\\ & u(t,x)=\log(\det A)+a)t+\frac{1}{2}\langle Ax,x\rangle+\langle b,x\rangle+c+O(|x|^{2-n}),\quad t^\ast\leq t\leq 0,\quad |x|\to +\infty,\end{aligned} \] where \(a\) is the constant such that \(f\equiv a\) outside a compact set, and \(t^\ast\) is the supremum of all \(t\leq 0\) such that \(f\equiv a\) in \((-\infty,t]\times \mathbb R^n\). The homogeneous case was already considered in [\textit{J. Xiong} and \textit{J. Bao}, J. Differ. Equations 250, No. 1, 367--385 (2011; Zbl 1207.35185)] for \(n\geq 2\) but only for solutions in \(C^{2,4}(\mathbb R^{n+1}_-)\). As an application of the main theorem, the authors prove that, if \(u\in C^2(\mathbb R^n)\) is convex, solves the elliptic Monge-Ampère equation \[ \det(D^2u(x))=\exp\bigg (\frac{1}{2}\langle \nabla u(x),x\rangle -u(x)\bigg ),\qquad x\in \mathbb R^n, \] and satisfies the condition \[ \limsup_{|x|\to +\infty}\left |\frac{1}{2}\langle \nabla u(x),x\rangle -u\right |<+\infty, \] then \[ u(x)=\frac{1}{2}\langle Ax,x\rangle+c,\qquad x\in \mathbb R^n \] for some symmetric and positive definite matrix \(A\) and some \(c\in \mathbb R\).
