Let \(X\) be a smooth algebraic variety over a subfield \(k\) of \(\mathbb C\) or a colimit of such varieties. Assume that \({\text{K}}_{\mathrm{alg}}^{0}(X)\cong {\text{K}}_{\mathrm{top}}^{0}(X(\mathbb C))\) where \({\text{K}}_{\mathrm{alg}}^{0}(X)\) is the algebraic \(K\)-theory generated by algebraic \(k\)-bundles over \(X\) and \({\text{K}}_{\mathrm{top}}^{0}(X(\mathbb C))\) is the topological complex \(K\)-theory over \(X(\mathbb C).\) Under this assumption the author studies three filtrations: \[ F^{i}_{\gamma}(X)\subset F^{i}_{\mathrm{geo}}(X)\subset F^{i}_{\mathrm{top}}(X(\mathbb C)) \] the gamma and geometric filtrations defined by \textit{A. Grothendieck} [Torsion homologique et sections rationnelles, Sem. C. Chevalley, ENS 1958, expose 5, Secreatariat Math., IHP, Paris (1958; Zbl 0098.13101)] and the topological filtration defined by \textit{M. F. Atiyah} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 9, 247--288 (1961; Zbl 0107.02303)]. In particular the author studies the induced maps on associated graded rings: \[ gr_{\gamma}^{*}\rightarrow gr_{\mathrm{geo}}^{*}(X)\rightarrow gr_{\mathrm{top}}^{*}(X(\mathbb C)) \] The main objects of study are \(X=BG\) the classifying spaces for algebraic groups \(G\) over algebraically closed fields. In particular it is shown that for some connected algebraic groups these filtrations differ. The case of \(X={\mathbb G}_{k}/T_{k}\) - the twisted form of flag varieties \(G/T\) for non-algebraically closed field \(k\) is also studied.
