This paper deals with the following linear impulsive delay differential equation \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} &x^{\prime }(t)=px(t)+qx(t-\tau ), &\quad & t\geq 0,~t\neq k\tau ,~k=0,1,2\dots,\\ &\Delta x(t_{k})=rx(t^{-}), & \quad & t=k\tau ,~k=0,1,2\dots,\\ &x(t)=\phi (t), & \quad & t\in [ -\tau ,0).\end{alignedat} \] Sufficient conditions for exponential stability of the zero solution of the given equation are obtained by using the properties of nonimpulsive delay differential equations. Moreover, numerical solutions of impulsive delay differential equations are obtained by using the Runge-Kutta method and Euler method for delay differential equations without impulses. Finally, exponential stability of numerical solutions of the linear impulsive delay differential equation is studied.
