This paper describes a connection between certain abelian varieties and the corresponding admissible representations. Let \(K\) be a nonarchimedean local field and let \((X, \lambda)\) be a polarized abelian variety over \(K\) of dimension \(g\) with good reduction. We say that \(X\) is even if it is isogenous to its twist by the quadratic unramified extension of \(K\). Corresponding to \((X, \lambda)\) there is an irreducible principal series representation \(\pi_{X,\lambda}\) of \(\text{GSpin}_{2g+1}(K)\) with the same Euler factor as \(X\). The authors show that the restriction of \(\pi_{X,\lambda}\) from \(\text{GSpin}_{2g+1}(K)\) to its derived subgroup \(\text{Spin}_{2g+1}(K)\) is reducible if and only if \(X\) is even. The authors also consider the associated \(L\)-packets. The \(L\)-parameter \(\phi_{X,\lambda}\) for \(\pi_{X,\lambda}\) can be transfered to an \(L\)-parameter \(\phi_{X,\lambda}^{\text{der}}\) of \(\text{Spin}_{2g+1}(K)\). Let \(\Pi_{X,\lambda}\) and \(\Pi_{X,\lambda}^{\text{der}}\) denote the corresponding \(L\)-packets. Then \(\Pi_{X,\lambda}\) is a singleton. The authors prove that \(\Pi_{X,\lambda}^{\text{der}}\) has cardinality 2 when \(X\) is even, and cardinality 1 otherwise.
