The analysis is carried out for \(G\) an abelian group, \(M(G,n)\) a Moore space and \(M(G)=[M(G,n)]_n\) the Moore spectra. For \(\mathsf{H}_*\) a generalized homology theory and \(A\) a \(\mathbb{Z}\)-module the author defines \(\mathsf{M}\) the category of Moore spectra with morphisms the classes of homotopy of maps between spectra. Next, she identifies this with a subcategory \(\mathsf{D}\) in an abelian category. Some properties of this category \(\mathsf{D}\) are presented such as the structure of \(\mathsf{C}\)-modules over the objects of \(\mathsf{D}\), the tensor product in \(\mathsf{D}\), the projective objects and the projective resolution in \(\mathsf{D}\), and a new exact sequence of universal coefficients and the relation between two exact sequences of universal coefficients is deduced. To avoid that the homology with coefficients \(\mathsf{H}_*(-,A)\) is not functorial in \(A\), the author associates with \(\mathsf{H}_*\) a homology theory \(\hat{\mathsf{H}_*}\) that takes values in the abelian category \(\mathsf{D}\). The main result is the new universal coefficient exact sequence, which is sometimes better than the classical one.
