For \(X\) a smooth projective variety over an algebraically closed field the triviality of a vector bundle \(V\) on \(X\) is equivalent to the triviality of its restriction to every curve \(C \subseteq X\). The paper under review provides a new proof of the known fact that, when \(X\) is rationally connected, the triviality of \(V\) is equivalent to that of its restriction to every rational curve \(C \subseteq X\). Moreover, in the particular case of rational homogeneous varieties \(G/P\), it is proved that \(V\) is trivial if and only if its restriction to every Schubert line is trivial. This is applied when \(G/P\) is a complex variety of Picard number one and \(V\) uniform to show a criterion of decomposability of \(V\) as sum of line bundles in terms of its variety of minimal rational tangents. Several known results on certain homogeneous varieties are revisited.
