Shift invariant (SI) spaces have been the object of a considerable attention in the literature due to their importance in the study of Gabor and wavelet systems. A shift-invariant (SI) space is a linear space \(S\) consisting of functions (or distributions) defined on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) that is invariant under translations of the integer lattice \(\mathbb{Z}^d\). \(S\) is a principal shift-invariant (PSI) space if it is generated by a single function and it is a finitely generated shift-invariant (FSI) space if it is generated by a finite set of functions, i.e., \[ S = \overline{\text{span}} \{\psi_n(\cdot-k): n=1,\dots,N; k \in \mathbb{Z}^d \}. \] Classical studies in the literature have addressed the problem of establishing criteria so that the functions \(\{ \psi_n(\cdot-k) \}\) form a frame or a Riesz basis. This paper considers FSI spaces generated by prolate spheroidal wave functions (in dimension \(d=1\)) having the same Fourier support \(\Omega\). Recall that prolate spheroidal wave functions are bandlimited functions with the property of being the most concentrated to a fixed time interval in the \(L^2\)-norm. This paper proves conditions such that integer translates of prolate spheroidal wave functions form a frame, a tight frame or a Riesz basis for the Paley-Wiener space of all square integrable functions with the given Fourier support \(\Omega\).
