In the paper under review, a ring means a commutative ring with \(1\). Two main results of the paper are the following theorems. { Theorem.} Let \((R, \mathfrak m)\) be a Noetherian unibranch local domain. Then \(R\) is analytically irreducible if and only if its normalization \(\overline{R}\) is analytically irreducible and finite over \(R\). { Theorem.} Let \((R, \mathfrak m)\) be a Noetherian quasi-unmixed local domain and \(S=\overline{R}\) its normalization. Assume that \(S\) is finite over \(R\) and \(\widehat{S_{\mathfrak n}}\) has only one minimal prime for every maximal ideal \(\mathfrak n\) in \(S\). Then the number of minimal prime ideals in \(\widehat{R}\) is equal to the number of maximal ideals in the integral closure \(S\) of \(R\). (Here \(\widehat{R}\) is the \(\mathfrak m\)-adic completion of \(R\) and \(\widehat{S_{\mathfrak n}}\) is the \(\mathfrak n\)-adic completion of \(S_{\mathfrak n}\).)
