The paper aims to derive an asymptotic system describing the resonant interaction of low-frequency internal waves and high-frequency surface waves in a two-layer inviscid fluid. Generally, this setting is governed by systems of the Zakharov type or their generalization. The analysis is based on Hamiltonian perturbation theory. A previous work, developed in two-dimensional geometry, produced a system of the Boussinesq equation coupled to the one-dimensional linear Schrödinger equation, in which the field governed by the Boussinesq equation plays the role of an effective potential. The present work reports on a three-dimensional generalization, which produces a system of the KPII (Kadomtsev-Petviashvili) equation coupled to the two-dimensional linear Schrödinger equation, in which the field governed by the KPII equation plays the role of the effective potential. In particular, solutions of the latter system based on the oblique line soliton of the KPII equation are considered. The obtained results make it possible to explain some observations of the sea surface in geophysical hydrodynamics.
