    For a knot type \(K\) let \(s(K)\) be the minimal number of line segments which are necessary for realizing the knot type in the simple hexagonal lattice. It is known that \(s(K) \geq 11\) for any nontrivial knot and \(s(3_1)=11\). [\textit{C. E. Mann} et al., J. Knot Theory Ramifications 21, No. 14, Paper No. 1250120, 15 p. (2012; Zbl 1270.57029)]. The authors of this paper introduce an inequality \(s(K)\geq 5b(K)\), where \(b(K)\) is the bridge number of \(K\), and derive several results on \(s(K)\) as follows: -- reprove the previously known result above -- \(s(K\#L) \leq s(K)+s(L)-3\) for any two knots \(K\) and \(L\) -- \( s(8_{20}), s(8_{21}), s(9_{46})= 15 \; \text{or} \;16 \) -- For the \((p,p+1)\)-torus knot \(K\), \(s(K)= 5p \; \text{or} \; 5p+1\), and \(s(K\# K)= 10p-5 \; \text{or} \; 10p-4\).
