    In this paper, the authors study the following nonlinear elliptic system \[ \begin{cases} -\Delta u=\lambda u+ u^{2^*-2}v\, & \text{in}\;\;\Omega\\ -\Delta v=\mu v^{2^*-1}+u^{2^*-1}\, & \text{in}\;\;\Omega\\ u>0, v>0\, & \text{in}\;\;\Omega\\ u=v=0 \, & \text{on}\;\;\partial\Omega,\end{cases}\leqno{(S)} \] where \(\Omega \) is a bounded domain of \(\mathbb R^N (N\geq 4), 2^*=2N/(N-2), \lambda \in \mathbb R\) and \(\mu\geq 0\). The authors prove the existence of a ground state solution of system (S) for some values of parameters \(\lambda\) and \(\mu.\) Nonexistence results are also obtained for a range of the parameters.
