Metric behaviour of the Magnus embedding. (Q2349876)

Let \(N\) be a normal subgroup of a free group \(F\) of rank \(r\) and \(N'\) its derived subgroup. The Magnus embedding expresses \(F/N'\) as a subgroup of the wreath product \(\mathbb Z^r\wr F/N\). The author gives a geometric definition for the Magnus embedding with which he shows: Theorem 1. The Magnus embedding \(\varphi\colon F/N'\to\mathbb Z^r\wr F/N\) is 2-bi-Lipschitz for an appropriate choice of word metrics. As an application the author shows a non-zero lower bound on \(L_p\) compression exponents in free solvable groups.
