Approximate convexity with the standard deviation's error (Q2350249)

This paper deals with the so-called \(\varepsilon\)-sconvex (i.e., approximately \(\varepsilon\)-convex with respect to the standard deviation) functions, a class that extends the one of the so-caled \(\varepsilon\)-smidconvex functions, for which different properties are proven. More precisely, after showing the local uniform continuity of the \(\varepsilon\)-sconvex functions, the author provides three characterizations via inequalities of the latter property, followed by a connection between \(\varepsilon\)-smidconvex and \(\varepsilon\)-sconvex functions. Last but not least, it is shown that the \(\varepsilon\)-sconvex functions fulfill a Hadamard-type inequality and several examples supporting the new results are presented as well.
