From the author's summary: ``For a finite group \(G\), let \(m(G)\) denote the set of maximal subgroups of \(G\) and \(\pi(G)\) denote the set of primes which divide \(|G|\). In [Arch. Math. 101, No. 1, 9-15 (2013; Zbl 1275.20022)], the same author proved that \(|m(G)|=|\pi(G)|\) when \(G\) is cyclic, and if \(G\) is noncyclic \(|m(G)|\geq|\pi(G)|+p\), where \(p\in\pi(G)\) is the smallest prime that divides \(|G|\). In this paper, two new lower bounds are produced for \(|m(G)|\), both of which consider all of the primes in \(\pi(G)\).'' The description of both lower bounds is rather technical to be included here (Theorem 1.1., Theorem 1.2.). The author proves that those new lower bounds for \(|m(G)|\) improve the one given in [loc. cit.]. Also, it is shown that both bounds coincide and are the best possible for the case of solvable groups. Finally, there exist nonsolvable groups which demonstrate that the second lower bound given is best possible.
