The author gives a restricted Cartan type Lie algebra \(L\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>3\) and its automorphism group. The author proves that there are only trivial invariants of the dual space of \(L\) under the coadjoint action and characterises the Cartan type algebras among the restricted simple Lie algebras. The paper is innovative and its conclusions have important significance for the Cartan type algebras among the restricted simple Lie algebras.
