The authors show that the complement of an essential complex affine hyperplane arrangement \(M\) has the homotopy type of a space obtained from a manifold \(V\), which fibers over a circle, by attaching \(|\chi(M)|\) cells, all of dimension equal to the complex dimension of \(M\). They also compute the Novikov homology associated to \(M\) and to some homomorphisms \(\xi: \pi_1(M) \to \mathbb{R}\).
