The authors introduce and investigate a fractional integral operator which contains Fox's \(H\)-function in its kernel. They find solutions to some fractional differential equations by using this operator. The results derived in this paper generalize the results obtained in earlier works by \textit{A. A. Kilbas} et al. [Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 15, No. 1, 31--49 (2004; Zbl 1047.33011)] and the first author and \textit{Ž. Tomovski} [Appl. Math. Comput. 211, No. 1, 198--210 (2009; Zbl 1432.30022)]. A number of corollaries and consequences of the main results are also discussed. Using some of these corollaries, graphical illustrations are presented and it is claimed that the graphs given in this paper are quite comparable to the physical phenomena of decay processes.
