The authors consider the following three-point singular boundary value problem \[ \begin{aligned} -y''(x)-\frac1x y'(x)=f(x,y), \;x\in (0,1),\\ y'(0)=0, \;y(1)=\delta y(\eta), \end{aligned} \] where \(\delta>0\) and \(0<\eta<1\). Firstly, they establish maximum and anti-maximum principles for the differential inequalities \[ \begin{aligned} -(xy'(x))'-\lambda x y(x)>0,\;x\in (0,1),\\ y'(0)=0, \;y(1)-\delta y(\eta)\geq 0. \end{aligned} \] Then, by using monotone iterative technique in the presence of upper and lower solutions which can be arranged in well order or reverse order, they obtain new existence theorems for the above three-point singular boundary value problem.
