It follows from a theorem of \textit{S. E. Newhouse} [Ann. Math. (2) 129, No. 2, 215--235 (1989; Zbl 0676.58039)] that if \(f\) is a smooth endomorphism of a smooth compact manifold then the metric entropy \(\mu\to h_{\mu}(f)\) is upper semi-continuous on the set of \(f\)-invariant measures. In particular, holomorphic endomorphisms arise as a special case. The paper under review provides a generalization of the aforementioned result for meromorphic endomorphisms. In the present setting, due to the possible existence of indeterminacy points \(I\), topological (or metric) entropy requires additional interpretation. The precise statement of the main result is as follows: Let \(f:X\to X\) be a dominant meromorphic map and \(\mu_n,\mu\) be \(f\)-invariant measures which do not put any mass on \(I\). If \(\mu_n\to \mu\) and \[ \lim_{n\to \infty}\int\log \mathrm{dist}(x,I)d\mu_n(x)=\int\log \mathrm{dist}(x,I)d\mu \] then \(\limsup_{n\to\infty}h_{\mu_n}(f)\leq h_{\mu}(f)\).
