This paper continues the study begun in [\textit{V. S. Belonosov} et al., ``Hydrodynamics of gas saturated layered systems'', Usp. Mekh. 3 (2), 37--70 (2005)] concerning the instability of a nonlinear model of gas containing layered systems with respect to small amplitude periodic external perturbations. The author studies the following nonlinear reversible system of two oscillators \[ \left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\sigma^2_1\right)u=u_1, \left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\sigma^2_2\right)u_1= q\left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\omega^2_1\right)u^2, \] where \(q > 0\) is a small parameter. The main goal of this study is to analyze the character of the instability of the zero solution of the perturbed system \[ \left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\sigma^2_1\right)u=u_1, \left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\sigma^2_2\right)u_1= q\left[\left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\omega^2_1\right)u^2+ \varepsilon\left(\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+\omega^2_2\right)u\sin\omega t\right] \] under a nonautonomous periodic perturbation and to find the maximum amplitude of oscillations of the function \(u(t)\) at \(\omega=2\sigma_1\) (main resonance) and at \(\omega=\sigma_1+\sigma_2\) (combination resonance) for small \(q\) depending on the value of \(\varepsilon\). The Krylov-Bogolyubov averaging method is applied. Independent integrals of the averaged autonomous nonlinear system are found, which are used to determine the maximum amplitude of oscillations of solutions to the original system for small \(q\). In the case of the main resonance, the averaged system is reduced to a completely integrable Hamiltonian system by making a change of variables. Under combination resonance, the averaged system is integrated by applying the integrals found.
