The authors prove that the mapping \(\Phi \) that assigns to each compact set \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^{2}\) its generalized conic function in the sense of the authors [J. Approx. Theory 164, No. 3, 371--390 (2012; Zbl 1236.52006)] is concave on the set \(\mathcal{L}_{B}\) of non-empty compact subsets of the plane such that the product of their orthogonal projections onto the coordinate axes coincide with a given rectangle \(B\); in other words, \(\Phi(tL_{1}+(1-t)L_{2})\geq t\Phi (L_{1})+(1-t)\Phi (L_{2})\) for every \(L_{1},\) \(L_{2}\in \mathcal{L}_{B}\) and every \(t\in [ 0,1]\). They also prove that \(\Phi \) is continuous on \((\bigcup_{B^{\ast }\subset B}\mathcal{L}_{B^{\ast }})\cap \mathcal{F}_{hv}(\mathbb{R}^{2})\) (with \(\mathcal{F}_{hv}(\mathbb{R}^{2})\) denoting the set of non-empty compact sets in \(\mathbb{R}^{2}\) with convex horizontal and vertical sections), equipped with the Hausdorff metric, when the space of contonuous functions on \(B\) is endowed with the supremum norm.or with the \(L_{1}\)-norm. Another main result establishes that every non-empty compact convex set \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^{2}\) is determined by its coordinate \(X\)-rays, that is, by the Lebesgue measures of their horizontal and vertical projections, if and only if \(\Phi^{-1}\) is lower semi-continuous at \(f_{K}\).
