In this paper, the authors study the existence of positive and negative solutions to the following elliptic equation: \[ -\Delta u + V(x)u - \Delta(u^2)u = g(x,u), \quad x \in \mathbb{R}^N, \] where \(V\) is a positive potential and the nonlinearity \(g(x,t) \sim t\) near the origin, and \(g(x,t) \sim t^3\) at infinity. The proofs rely on the Mountain pass Theorem and an appropriate change of variables.
