Let \(A,B\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) be nonempty measurable sets. The Brunn-Minkowski inequality states that \[ |A+B|^{1/n}\geq|A|^{1/n}+|B|^{1/n}, \] where \(|\cdot|\) denotes the Lebesgue measure and \(A+B\) the Minkowski sum between \(A\) and \(B\). Equality cases of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality are characterized: If \(|A|,|B|>0\), then equality holds if and only if there exist a convex set \(K\subset\mathbb{R}^n\), \(\lambda_1,\lambda_2>0\), and \(v_1,v_2\in\mathbb{R}^n\), such that \(\lambda_1A+v_1\subset K\), \(\lambda_2B+v_2\subset K\) and \(|K\setminus(\lambda_1A+v_1)|=|K\setminus(\lambda_2B+v_2)|=0\). For \(n\geq 2\) and \(A,B\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) measurable sets, the authors study the stability of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality and give a quantitative version in the following sense: If \(||A|-1|+||B|-1|+||tA+(1-t)B|-1|\leq \delta\) for some \(t\in[\tau,1-\tau]\), \(0<\tau\leq 1/2\), and \(\delta\leq e^{-M_n(\tau)}\), then \(A\) and \(B\) are, up to a translation, quantitatively close to a convex set. For ``quantitatively close'', the authors give explicit constants depending on \(\tau\), \(\delta\) and \(n\). The authors observe that the assumption that \(\delta\) is small is necessary, by giving an example.
