For the cubic wave equation in three space dimensions, with a known explicit solution, one investigates the blowup stability. The original cubic wave equation on the future light cone of the origin given in Cartesian coordinates \((t, x)\) is transformed first, into a same focusing cubic wave equation in hyperboloidal coordinates \((T,X)\) on the past light cone of the origin. This equation is further transformed by means of similarity coordinates. One introduces the Lorentz boosts for the selfsimilar solution. The cubic wave equation is written as a first order evolution system containing a linear operator \(L\) and a nonlinear operator \(N\). After inserting a modulation ansatz one obtains the evolution equation for the perturbation term. Using semigroup theory growth bounds for the linearized equation are established. Further, the paper concentrates on results for the nonlinear problem. Results on the asymptotic behavior of global solutions with codimension-1 and small initial data are proved.
