The author proves that in the (restricted) wreath product \(W\) of a finitely generated abelian group by a polycyclic group \(Q\), every finitely generated subgroup of \(W\) is closed in the profinite topology of \(W\). The special case where \(Q\) is infinite cyclic was proved earlier by \textit{Y. de Cornulier} [Geom. Dedicata 122, 89--108 (2006; Zbl 1137.20019)]. The author's theorem implies, via the Magnus embedding, that a finitely generated free metabelian group also has its finitely generated subgroups profinitely closed, a theorem in [Propriétés de Ribes-Zalesskiĭ, topologie profinie produit libre et généralisations. Paris: Université Paris (PhD Thesis) (2000)] of \textit{T. Coulbois}.
