The authors prove the existence of a solution for the second-order Lagrangian system \[\begin{cases}\ddot{q}(t)-q(t)+a(t)\nabla G(q(t))=f(t)\\ \lim_{t\rightarrow\pm\infty}q(t)=\lim_{t\rightarrow\pm\infty}\dot{q}(t)=0,\end{cases},\] where \(a:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous positive bounded function, \(G:\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow\mathbb{R}\), \(n\geq 1\), is a \(C^1\)-differentiable potential satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz superquadratic growth condition and \(f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^n\) is a continuous bounded square integrable forcing term. The main result is given in Theorem 1.2 and it extends to the inhomogeneous systems the result by \textit{E. Serra} et al. [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 13, No. 6, 783--812 (1996; Zbl 0873.58032)]. Some suggestive numerical examples are given at the end of the paper.\ Other papers of the second author directly connected to this topic are [Topol. Methods Nonlinear Anal. 33, No. 1, 169--177 (2009; Zbl 1190.37071); Commun. Contemp. Math. 14, No. 4, Article ID 1250025, 9 p. (2012; Zbl 1257.37041); J. Differ. Equations 219, No. 2, 375--389 (2005; Zbl 1080.37067); J. Math. Anal. Appl. 335, No. 2, 1119--1127 (2007; Zbl 1118.37032)], the last two published with \textit{M. Izydorek}.
