The paper deals with an optimal control problem for solutions of a boundary value problem on an interval for a second-order ordinary differential equation with a small parameter at the second derivative. The control is scalar and is subject to geometric constraints, and the quality criterion is integral. The problem treated is a special case of the general control problems given by \textit{J. L. Lions} [Optimal control of systems governed by partial differential equations. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag (1971; Zbl 0203.09001)]. The main point of the paper is the construction and justification of expansions of solutions with respect to the small parameter involved in the problem. In particular, the argument relies on the previous papers [\textit{A. M. Il'in}, Soglasovanie asimptoticheskikh razlozhenij reshenij kraevykh zadach (Russian). Moskva: Nauka (1989; Zbl 0671.35002)] and [the author, Sb. Math. 191, No. 10, 1421--1431 (2000; Zbl 0983.49018); translation from Mat. Sb. 191, No. 10, 3--12 (2000)].
