The authors consider a numerical method for solving the initial value problem \(y^{(n)}(x) = f(x, y(x))\), \(y^{(j)}(a) = 0\) (\(j = 0,1,\dots,n-1\)), on the interval \([a,b]\). The method is a spectral collocation scheme with basis functions \(\phi_{i,n}(x) = (x-a)^n L_i^*(x)\), \(i = 0,1,2,\dots\), where \(L_i^*\) is the Legendre polynomial shifted to \([a,b]\). The collocation points may be chosen in an arbitrary manner. The authors state some error bounds under various assumptions on the unknown solution.
