A Sheffer stroke basic algebra is defined as a groupoid \((A,|)\) satisfying three axioms. The structure of these algebras is investigated and connections to basic algebras \((A,\oplus,\neg,0)\) via \(x|y=\neg x\oplus\neg y\) as well as to Boolean algebras are presented.
