Within a logico-algebraic approach to axiomatic quantum mechanics a hidden-variables theory is considered. It is explained why phenomena of quantum mechanics often can be better described by orthoalgebras than by orthomodular posets. Conjunctions and disjunctions of compatible elements are investigated and general Bell-type inequalities, which originally were proved in orthomodular posets, are generalized to orthoalgebras.
