Let \({\mathcal L}\) be a compact convex multiplicative semigroup with identity of linear maps on \(R^ n\). Let \([x^{(j)}]\) and \([y^{(j)}]\) be \(k\)- tuples of vectors in \(R^ n\). There exists an \(S\in{\mathcal L}\) that takes every \(x^{(j)}\) to \(y^{(j)}\) if and only if \(\sup_{S\in{\mathcal L}}\sum^ k_{j=1}\langle z^{(j)},Sy^{(j)}\rangle\leq\sup_{S\in{\mathcal L}}\sum^ k_{j=1}\langle z^{(j)},Sx^{(j)}\rangle\) for every \(z=(z^{(1)},\dots,z^{(k)})\) with each \(z^{(j)}\in R^ n\); \(\langle , \rangle\) denotes an inner product which induces a norm \(\|\cdot\|\) on \(R^ n\). Consideration is given to \(\|\cdot\|_ 1\) and \(\|\cdot\|_ \infty\) when \({\mathcal L}\) consists of either all contractions or those that preserve a certain linear form.
